THE BRILLIANT “B-STORY” OF BENNY THE TRAVELER
Benny was a gentle, benevolent, kind-hearted young man who lived in a small but barren, rather empty village. Life there was simple, sometimes too banal, extremely commonplace, and Benny often dreamed of adventures far beneath, far below the ordinary world he knew.
One day, something bizarre, truly strange, happened. A giant behemoth, an unbelievably huge creature, appeared near his home. Instead of being belligerent, violent or hostile, the creature seemed lost and completely bewildered, totally confused.
The villagers began to bemoan, loudly complain about how the monster would ruin their peaceful life. Some even started to berate, angrily scold the creature from a distance. A few people behaved in a blatant, painfully obvious display of bias, showing unfair prejudice against the creature just because it was different.
But Benny, being different from others, felt a sudden, blissful, deeply joyful excitement. He loved unusual things. While others stood shocked, Benny walked forward in a brazen, extremely bold manner.
The villagers started to bristle, immediately react angrily, but Benny ignored them.
He spoke gently to the creature, trying not to baffle, not to confuse it.
Still, the creature continued to brood, silently worry, as if thinking deeply.
Realizing that long explanations would not help, Benny used brevity, perfect conciseness, speaking only a few clear words. His short message seemed beneficial, quite advantageous—the monster slowly relaxed.
Before guiding it home, Benny noticed that people had begun to belittle, unfairly disparage him, calling him foolish. Others tried to beguile, cleverly deceive him by spreading rumors that the creature was dangerous. But Benny refused to let anyone befuddle, mentally confuse him.
He knew he needed to bolster, to support the creature.
But first, he had to bypass, quietly avoid the angry crowd.
He led the behemoth through a forest where life began to burgeon, beautifully flourish, with bountiful, incredibly abundant fruits growing everywhere. Benny told the creature to bask, to simply enjoy the warm sunlight. The animal looked around with a blithe, wonderfully carefree expression.
Suddenly, chaos broke out in the village behind them. A loud brawl, a violent fight, had begun because some villagers blamed each other for letting the creature escape. Their brisk, super quick temper caused the problem.
Meanwhile, Benny continued helping the creature until they reached a hidden valley far from the village. Benny knew others would try again to banish, forcibly expel the creature if it ever returned.
So with gentle words—and more brevity, more conciseness—he explained that the valley was a safe place to stay.
The creature understood. It gave Benny a warm, grateful nod before settling into a peaceful sleep.
Benny walked home feeling proud. Though he had to face a village full of confused, bewildered, still confused people, he knew he had done the right thing.
And deep down, he hoped that one day, instead of being belligerent, aggressively hostile, the villagers would learn to be more benevolent, truly kind-hearted—not only toward strange creatures, but also toward each other.
